I am catching up with the story as it has been a very long time since I read it, and can no longer remember at which chapter I stopped. However, I am very pleased to read the unconventional and I must say, my jaw dropped when I read that Kurenai was dead. I am not sure if I read this the last time around or if this event was a turn-off, since she became such an integral part of this Naruto's life, but I must say that I am intrigued by this development. I also wonder which path Team 8 will take since my brain is coming up with different scenarios. What a wonderful way to enjoy a day off.

not a bad chapter.... it was better than te last one... i still have a problem with how out of character you write some of the characters except for hinata you seem to write every female charater the same and everyone is always angry ready to kill someone... its slightly annoying since its so predictable how everyone will react... and the hyuga a hugely taken out of character, hinata is the only nice one of the bunch? of a whole clan shes the nice one not spoile and because of that shes beat by her father... the same father that loves her so much he killed a cloud ninja without hesitation to save her... really? i mean c'mon character depth is needed to establish why they are that way not just becuase "theyre hyuga's, and thats how they act" your chapters are slightly losing more and more everytime i read them, they fail to grasp me like they used to chakra pulse is rediculous its almost straight out of force unleashed... naruto needs to NOT use that jutsu as it is a waste of chakra... i like the story as a whole (minus a few things here and there that you have taken liberties on) and i liked the beginning of it but its almost going nowhere... for goodness sake hinata is a senory ninja and shes being sold into slavery doing medical work for tsunade thats ridiculous... shino is scared of toads cuz theyll eat his bugs? he is a master of espionage, its like youre youre not taking anyone seriously as a ninja you should brush up on the manga or storyline somewhere and tweak your original idea a bit... sorry this seems so random

I'll admit, I was really worried with the death of Kurenai. She really was the mouthpiece of the story. It undoubtedly will change the story not simply due to its impact on the characters, but also because of the different way you will have to present everything. I thought such a huge change would make this story less thoughtful and less enjoyable.

With this chapter I'll freely admit I was wrong. Kurenai dying still sucks, but your story's tone and characters are still the same. I was surprised to see Naruto so deadened at first, but his emotional catharsis there at the end was completely fitting. Seeing Hinata not give a care what her father thought was satisfying as well.

In any case, I'm looking forward to new chapters on this one again. I'm curious whether you're going to undertake a few years fast-forward or not at this point. I feel like Naruto and company could do with a few years, but I don't see the trio wanting to leave each other, especially no time in the near future.

Wow, I've been waiting for this chapter for a while, and I have to say that the wait was definitely worth it. You've delivered a quite powerful depiction of just how strongly Kurenai has affected her team, and shown how tight a team bond has developed, as seen from their interactions both inside and outside the team. Thanks for sharing this with us, and I'll be looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Holy cow. I had been waiting to see how you would wrap things up after Kurenai's death, and how things would be resolved with her genin. The funeral scene is incredibly moving, and well written. I didn't expect Kakashi and Asuma to act as they did, but it makes sense.

I look forward to reading how the conflict between Hinata and her father pans out, and how the team continues their training.

While i have seen a bunch of Naruto episodes (mainly the beginning to the chunnin arc), there is one thing that i might have missed. Is the Anko/Kurenai friendship Fanon or Canon? And if Canon would Anko volunteer some of her time to assist her friends kids?

I'm also wondering who you're going to use as Kurenai's replacement as Team 8's Jounin-sensei. Is Iruka going to take a Jounin exame to ensure that Naruto has a decent teacher? Jiraiya doesn't seem like suitable replacement seeing that he'd probably just repeat his canon performence and take Naruto on a 3 year training trip, thus leaving team 8 with team 7's canon replacement and Sai. Personally i like the idea of Shizune being their new Jounin instead of just being Tsunade's deadly secretary like she was in canon.
