A good, solid chapter.
It's always nice to see Nev shine, as, for all the mentions in canon, he remains a sadly incomplete character. You handle him really well, as you do the others, and I look forward to reading more.

Great chapter, and worth the wait. I could see why the Grangers were concerned, and I think that Hermione's father senses that he's not always going to be the most important man in his little girl's life.
I'd have loved to go along when they were taking the basilisk down; that sort of scientific expedition always did interest me. And I'm glad that Madame Longbottom seems to have accepted Neville's friends---especially including Luna.

Nice use of Slughorn. I rather liked how his little gatherings were practice for the Longbottom affair and how he apparently longs to be in such society.
So the horcruxes still aren't destroyed? Good job; it makes me wonder more and more if they are somehow going to get stolen away.
More action next chapter?
